So I’m doing fan art of a movie I haven’t watched yet… yeah. I just got done watching the first “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and I have to say, I really like it! The animation was so gorgeous! Colours were beyond stunning! It got a chuckle or a laugh out of me in almost every scene! The animation was expressive and emotive, especially when it came to conveying and getting comedic reactions with their much exaggerated poses and expressions. I knew this film was going to be very heart-felt towards it medium right from its opening text saying “A film by a lot of People” ^__^ And I certainly took a shine to its underlying message and themes of intellectualism and often how modern “normal” society has a tendency to antagonize it whereas simplicity is often lionized. Especially how it can be dominated by morons who prefer to exploit intellectualism for their own wants as opposed to take a genuine interest... at least that’s what I got while watching the movie
I watched it because the 2nd film is out in theatres and I am curious about it. Especially when it comes to the new character before you: Chester V. Who seems to be, to quote MovieBob from the Escapist “What if Steve Jobs made Cliff Bars instead of iPhones”. So given the themes I saw in the first film of intellectualism and just being affectionate to nerd kind. Makes me wonder why they are now choosing to make the sequel’s main antagonist based on a man who is often either seen as either a nerd God or Pariah (depending on who you ask). And whether or not this will be an affectionate homage while seeing the real person’s traits spun on its head to serve the character’s well (ala the late Ed Wynn with Wreck-it Ralph’s King Candy); or whether or not this will turn out to be a less than affectionate satire of the man, I’ll just have to wait and see. Cos like I said, whenever I ask people, they always seem very set in their ways about Steve Jobs. But I’ll have to see for myself when I watch the movie
But I can safely say I've gained a soft spot from what very little I've seen of him. I LOVE his awesome design, expressive voice and his hysterical character animations from what I've seen so far never fails to put a smile on my face. In fact I usually laugh my ass off every time. But who knows, maybe the film will suck? Maybe Chester won’t be worth the hype? Or maybe he’ll be the Rattlesnake Jake of his film (the only thing worth remembering in a piece of shit movie) Or hopefully I’ll enjoy it all?
I’ll place a clip of him below for those who aren't familiar:

Now onto the picture at hand, I decided cos I love Chester’s design so much I had to draw him. I did have another piece of him with a more ambitious angle. But I thought I’d best to this first as a practice.
Because of the food themes of the movie combined with the man he’s based on. I decided I’d draw him with a silver apple. Ok I’ll fully admit making the apple silver may have been on-the-nose. But I just totally wanted to draw it.
Since I have little to virtually sod all to go on, I couldn't think of a more creative title *derp* XD
Yes, I've noticed I've totally botched up the way Chester’s tag is tied around his neck. But I didn't realize until too late. So I had to let it stay.
I’m not pleased with the background. But I just needed something simple and that wouldn't stand out too much.
Ps. I totally need to get the art book for the 2nd film!
Anyway, I hope you like it.
